Yesterday we had another huge Hot Country Hangout with Great Big Sea’s Alan Doyle.
The Canadian icon was in town promoting his new book “A Newfoundlander in Canada” his follow up to “Where I Belong” – a great read I might add – and he was totally impressed with our Hot Country Hangout and our awesome listeners!
(Our Hot Listeners below lined up post show for the Meet and Greet!)
He met each and every of the hundred plus people and even took time to talk on the phone to their relatives on the phone, one listener got him to talk to her brother in Ottawa!
Alan told stories about his days growing up in Petty Harbour, Newfoundland, his days with Great Big Sea, his memories of Gord Downie and how much he loves Halifax.
He noted some of his inspirations as his parents and Blue Rodeo who blazed the trail for Great Big Sea.
A tip of the Hot hat to Cory Tetford from Alan’s band who backed him up, what a wicked deadly guitar player!

Alan heads out a a huge tour soon, he’s back here in Halifax in May!
To me, I’ve always been a BIG Great Big Sea fan and to finally meet Alan was a huge thrill, he’s one of the nicest and best in the Canadian music bizz!
Thanks for dropping Sargent Alan Doyle!
