I’ve had a few really good burgers for burger week. But you really can’t beat a backyard fire grilled burger at home.
One of my favorite things to load on a burger is pickles. These pickles are easy to make especially if you have to use up some cucumbers because you bought too many at Costco. I may or may not have done that…I did that.
Ok, let’s get started.
You probably have the right tools to do this even though you may not realize it. If you have a box grater you also have a slicer that will keep things consistent.
Slice up all your cucumbers and soak them for at least 24 hours in this brine;
1/2 Cup White Vinegar
1/2 Cup Cider Vinegar or Rice vinegar
I’ll always add a splash of store bought pickle juice
1 Cup of Water
1 Tbsp Fresh or Freeze Dried Dill (Fresh Is Always Better)
1/4 Cup White Sugar
1 Tbsp Sea Salt
1 Tbsp Peppercorns
1 Medium Red Onion Sliced (Optional)
-For this recipe I used diced white onion, but in the past I’ve used red onion which also make a great addition to a burger or sammich.
These pickles are great on burgers! They’ll add that uniqueness that’ll have your BBQ buds wondering what your secret is to a great tasting burger!
