I love getting into the kitchen and creating tasty meals for my family and friends.
So I figure, why not share some of the recipes I love for everyone to enjoy. Recently I’ve been on a french toast kick. Thick slices of bread soaked in tasty egg wash and fried crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Last week I made a HUGE batch to freeze so that the kids can just pop out a slice or two and have breakfast.
For this recipe I’ve used both raisin bread and thick slice texas toast and managed to use the whole loaf.
- 1 loaf thick slice bread or raisin bread
- 8 eggs
- 1/4 cup Condensed Milk (Sweetened)
- 1/4 cup Heavy Cream
- 2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Nutmeg
- 1 tbsp Vanilla Extract
Now if there are no kids that will be eating this, you could switch the heavy cream for a few tablespoons of JD Shore Rum Cream.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk eggs, condensed milk, cream (or rum cream), cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla extract until it’s evenly blended. Pour the mixture into a lasagna dish so you can dip multiple pieces of bread at a time.
This goes really quickly if you have an electric griddle like in my picture. Set it to about medium heat, start soaking your bread in the egg wash and cook for about a 1 1/2 to 2 minutes each side. For thinner raisin bread only cook for about a minute on each side.
