Old Dominion & Dan+Shay Pay Tribute to Troy Gentry

The country world has been in mourning for Montgomery Gentry’s Troy Gentry following his tragic death in a helicopter crash on Friday, and now two fellow country bands have made sure to remember him through music. Radio.com reports that Old Dominion performed a cover of Montgomery Gentry’s “My Town” during their concert on Friday, struggling at times to get through the song. “Got a little choked up when the crowd started singing,” the band later captioned a clip of their performance online.

Got a little choked up when the crowd started singing..but still. #mytown

Meanwhile, Dan + Shay likewise covered Montgomery Gentry’s “Something to Be Proud Of” in a YouTube video they shared that shows them playing the song in a rehearsal studio. “Our thoughts and our prayers go out to his family and his friends,” says Dan Smyers at the start of the clip, while Shay Mooney adds, “We’ve always looked up to those guys and it was always such an honor to share the stage with them.”
