New Sign Coming To A Zoo Near You!

Last week, video surfaced online of a male Los Angeles Zoo patron climbing a barrier and spanking a hippopotamus in the rear end. The Los Angeles Police Department announced on Monday that they’re investigating the incident as a case of trespassing.

As The L.A. Times notes, because the animal didn’t show any obvious signs of injury, it’s not being investigated as a case of animal cruelty, although a zoo spokesperson called the alleged crime “an invasion of the trust we work so hard to build with these animals.” The zoo has now erected its first-ever “no trespassing” sign in front of the hippo exhibit.
