For 40 years Ron Beard has been the timekeeper for sports events at the Scotiabank Centre/Metro Centre!
He’s seen it all from the Nova Scotia Voyageurs, Nova Scotia Oilers and Halifax Citadels to today’s Halifax Mooseheads and Halifax Hurricanes basketball games. From AUS to CIS games, he’s been there too for over four decades.
Ron’s 82 and is still going strong as he’s nearing the 5,000 event mark!
Picture above of Ron in his “office” having a chat with my son Trent working the Mooseheads penalty box.
As the Halifax Mooseheads Public Address Announcer, Ron is my winger in the booth between the penalty boxes at ice level.
To say we have fun is an understatement! He always gives me the cue 10 seconds before “Last minute of play in the 1st period (Said in BIG Rink Voice!)
Here’s a great article on Ron from The Herald:
Congrats on 40 years on rockin’ around the clock Ronnie!
