The King Died 40 Years Ago Today

I was 11 when the news broke on CJCB Radio in Sydney on August 16th 1977 that The King was gone.

Today marks the 40th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death and tens of thousands are expected to make the pilgrimage to Graceland.

To commemorate the legacy the King of Rock & Roll left behind, Spotify has taken a look at the musical impact he continues to have today.

Elvis’s catalog of songs have been streamed well over a billion times, the equivalent of almost 4000 years of streaming. Here are the Top 10 “King of Rock ‘N Roll” tunes:

# 10: Don’t Be Cruel,

9: In the Ghetto

8. A Little Less Conversation

7. Heartbreak Hotel

6. Burning Love

5. Hound Dog

4. Suspicious Minds

3. Jail House Rock

2. Blue Christmas

and # 1.Can’t Help Falling in Love

“Can’t Help Falling in Love,” has been streamed more than 90 million times and Jail House Rock has been viewed on You Tube over 92 million times proving the power of The King!

He was only 42 when he died, this is what he would’ve looked like at 80 in 2015:

Thank you, thank you very much for the music Elvis!
