John Mellencamp Receiving Humanitarian Award For His Work With Farm Aid

The charity WhyHunger will present John Mellencamp with its ASCAP Harry Chapin Humanitarian Award at the organization’s 20th annual WhyHunger Chapin Awards, taking place June 5 at City Winery in New York.  The singer will be recognized for his work helping family farmers as a co-founder of Farm Aid.  The Harry Chapin Humanitarian Award is given to artists who’ve shown a commitment to supporting social justice and who’ve made significant contributions to fighting global hunger.
