#HotCountrySkinny for Tuesday, May 22nd

The second night of American Idol‘s two-part finale Monday night (May 21) turned out to be an unexpectedly romantic affair, as finalist Gabby Barrett was eliminated halfway through the show, leaving Caleb Lee Hutchinson and Maddie Poppe. In a surprise twist, the remaining two singers revealed that they are now boyfriend and girlfriend, which made for some cute tension in terms of waiting for the final winner to be announced.

The winner? Maddie Poppe is the lucky one of the twosome who pulled forward and won America’s collective heart. The two were both winners regardless, as host Ryan Seacrest presented the couple with tickets for a vacation to Hawaii.

“Our parents can come supervise,” joked Hutchinson.

BLAKE SHELTON will be replacing Kathie Lee on the June 6th edition of the “Today Show”.  He and HOTA KOTB will be at Blake’s Ole Red bar in Nashville doing a pre-party for the “CMT Music Awards”, which is going down that night.  They’ll also be announcing the five finalists for Video of the Year.

DIERKS BENTLEY is very proud of his skills at making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.  He says, quote,  “I mean I am good.  I can make THREE in under 30 seconds . . . evenly spread the peanut butter and jelly.  I do that professionally as a father for my kids.”

Walmart Boy Mason Ramsey was enjoying his time in the spotlight on Sunday (May 20) at the Billboard Music Awards, and he shared an impromptu moment on the red carpet with Bebe Rexha, who seemed to be even more of a fan of him than he is of her. The two couldn’t help but take advantage of the moment by breaking out in song. “I think you are amazing,” Rexha told Ramsey before the two began singing “Meant to Be,” a massive hit the pop artist stars on with Florida Georgia Line. She kept rolling with the comments, telling the 11-year-old “Famous” star: “You are so cute. I kind of love yodeling, too. It’s in the songs that I do. How do you like stardom?” Ramsey loves it very much. Find out more on today’s #HotCountrySkinny 8:40am/4:40pm
