#HotCountrySkinny for October 12th

Georgia-born country superstar Luke Bryan has wracked up many musical accolades and now, the singer has

officially joined the league of artists that have been used in a Jeopardy! question. Bryan reacted to the news with muted enthusiasm, simply writing “I made it.”

I just realized why I never see KIP MOORE at awards shows, and it’s quite simply because he never gets nominated.  In his career he’s only had a handful of nominations, and most of those were ACAs, which isn’t around anymore. The thing is, his career is going strong.  He’s sold over four million albums, had a Number One hit with “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck”, as well as several other Top 20 singles.  Then there are the sold out shows and his Comeback Kid charity. So somebody asked him about all this and he took the high road by saying quote, “It doesn’t faze me one bit.  It’s not going to break me one way or the other. He says,  “I no longer hold my success on if I’m playing arenas or winning awards.  My goal is to truly touch people’s soul with my music, the way the greats did with me.”

One reason show business marriages don’t work is because the two of them are often in different parts of the world.  Well, KELSEA BALLERINI and her fiancé Morgan Evans battle this with a rule that they never go two weeks without seeing each other.  I know this, because she posted a photo and wrote that in the caption.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill – will release their first album together next month.  “The Rest of Our Life” comes out November 17, the same day as the TV premiere of their concert special ‘Tim and Faith: Soul2Soul’.

Shania Twain – her new album ‘Now’, debuted at Number One on the all-genre Billboard 200 with the equivalent of 137,000 copies sold in its first week.  Naturally, it is #1 on the country albums chart as well.

SNL opened this week’s episode with a tribute to the victims of Las Vegas and Tom Petty with country superstar Jason Aldean, but they reportedly weren’t the first to reach out to the artist for an appearance to pay tribute to the victims of the massacre. UFC president Dana White says that he invited Aldean to the UFC 216 event on Saturday night in Las Vegas. White had questioned delaying the event in the wake of the shooting, but it soon became an event to pay respects to the first responders and victims. White expected “1,500 first responders from local police, firefighters and EMT departments” at the event alongside “several victims.  This was a selling point on his invitation to Aldean, an offer that was turned down for SNL according to TMZ:   White says Aldean’s people turned down the offer — saying he was shaken up from the shooting and might never perform live again. White says he stressed that the survivors who would be attending UFC 216 were shot while watching Aldean perform and it would mean a lot to them … and the city of Las Vegas. Still, he declined…“F*ck you Jason Aldean. Stay out of Vegas.” White also tells TMZ that he reached out to other country music stars to sing the anthem at the event and all of them turned the offer down.
