#HotCountrySkinny for January 12th

Two songwriters from Australia filed a complaint saying the TIM MCGRAW – FAITH HILL duet “The Rest Of Our Life” ripped off their song “When I Found You”, which was a hit Down Under in 2016 for someone named Jasmine Rae.

Tim and Faith didn’t write “The Rest Of Our Life”, but they’re named in the suit, along with the song’s co-writers ED SHEERAN, Snow Patrol’s JOHNNY MCDAID, plus two others.  Arista Records was also named.

The suit claims both songs “explore the same themes of marriage, the passage of time, aging, and the way a romantic relationship protects the speaker against vulnerability.”

Miranda Lambert and Little Big Town Are Co-Headlining a Summer Tour. It’s the first blockbuster tour of 2018.  MIRANDA LAMBERT and LITTLE BIG TOWN are co-headlining The Bandwagon Tour, which kicks off July 12th in Charlotte, North Carolina.  There are 13 dates so far with more on the way. They’re also going to announce additional support acts.  Tickets go on sale January 25th, so don’t wait around.  Grab dates and updates at LittleBigTown.com . . . or MirandaLambert.com.

BRETT YOUNG came down with something and had to cancel yesterday’s performance on “Good Morning America”.  That’s huge exposure for a new artist so you know he must have been in bad shape.

He posted a photo on Instagram and wrote, “Not the NYC trip we had in mind.  “There’s nothing I hate more than having to cancel shows.  Sorry we couldn’t see you but we promise to do everything we can to be back very soon.  Thank you for understanding.” He’s planning to reschedule and will “give a shout” when there’s a replacement date.

LAUREN ALAINA credits her producer for giving her the courage to write about the real things she was going through while working on her “Road Less Traveled” album.  One of those songs is “Doin’ Fine”, which was inspired by her parents’ divorce.  Quote, “It was the first time that I thought I should write about me.”
