The Human rights commission has received 6 complaints in 2 weeks from families with children who were turned away by landlords in Halifax because they have children. Family status is a protected characteristic under the Nova Scotia Human Rights Act. The city says they encourage anyone who feels they have been discriminated against to contact the commission.

A former Dalhousie University student will have to wait until January to make his case for a new trial for a lesser 2nd degree murder charge after being found guilty of killing a fellow student. 26 year old William Sandeson was found guilty of killing 22 year old Taylor Samson in August 2015. Sandeson is arguing the judge should never have allowed evidence that police got from his cellphone to be shown to the jury.

With more than 10 confirmed cases of the measles in Saint John, many Nova Scotians who are wanting to get vaccinated can’t because there is a shortage of the measles vaccine in our province. However Nova Scotia’s public health department says they should have more vaccines in stock very soon. There was a national shortage due to a manufacturing problem.
