City council has approved a funding commitment of $250,000 to the Bus Stop Theatre on Gottingen Street. The non-profit group needed the money to buy the building before July 3rd or the property owner could have put the building on the market. Many city councillors agree that the Bus Stop theatre is an important community space & were happy to support the decision.
A 40 year old woman from Bedford who’s pleaded guilty to 8 charges including sexually assaulting her 2 youngest children is in court this week. The lead investigator in the case, RCMP Cpl. Laura Seeley, says it’s the worst case she’s ever investigated. The mother’s male American accomplice is already serving a 26 year sentence & her name is banned from publication in order to protect her 4 children.
There’s a new ferry in town! A ferry has launched in the Northwest Arm during rush hour to help transport people who are being slowed down by the Quinpool road closure. The ferry runs every 15 minutes between Dingle Park & Jubilee Road from 7AM-9AM & 3:30PM to 6PM & will cost you $4, but it’s free this week. Local entrepreneur, David Backman, says his 7 minute ferry ride will save you up to one hour that’d you’d be sitting in traffic.
