Premier Stephen McNeil is accusing the Nova Scotia Teachers Union of spreading false information about the government’s education budget. The union accuses the government of cutting resources for several student support programs, including early literacy and the options & opportunities program. President of the NSTU, Paul Wozney, has since released a letter inviting the premier to tour schools across the province with him.
The Nova Scotia NDP has filed a complaint with Elections Nova Scotia alleging the Tory nominee for the provincial riding of Sackville-Cobequid violated the Elections Act. Steve Craig is the municipal councillor for Lower Sackville and has filed his papers to become a candidate in the upcoming by-election on June 18th. The NDP’s complaint alleges a donation Craig made to a community group on Wednesday night breaches the act.

Dalhousie University has a new president. Dr. Deep Saini is currently the president and vice-chancellor of the University of Canberra in Australia & previously worked at four Canadian universities. He’ll start his 5 year term January 1st 2020.
