At least 41 people on board a Russian passenger jet have died after the airplane they were on did a crash-landing at a Moscow airport last night. Once the plane stopped moving, some passengers were able to escape using emergency slides from the plane’s 2 forward doors. No official cause has been provided yet as to why the plane crashed.

Nova Scotia Education Minister Zach Churchill has ordered high school rugby to be reinstated across the province. Last Thursday the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation cancelled public school rugby games due to safety concerns. Churchill says the federation did not consult school communities with their decision before making it public.

A 78 year old man from Canaan has died after a boating accident in Lunenburg County yesterday morning. He was in a small open fishing boat with a friend on Hoop Pole Lake when the boat overturned and he became trapped underneath. His friend suffered minor injuries.
Hundreds of people attended the Battle of the Atlantic ceremony at Point Pleasant Park yesterday morning. Among the fallen that were remembered include 2000 members of the Royal Canadian Navy, 1600 Canadian merchant seaman and 750 Canadian airmen. And this year marked the 75th anniversary of the sinking of HMCS Athabaskan.
