We are one step closer to having a mandatory rental property registry in Halifax. This week regional council voted in favour to create a registry that would make bylaw violations public on the city’s open data website. A registry would allow for a proactive inspection on rental units that would not require someone to make a complaint.
A 29 year old man is facing charges after he side swiped an RCMP vehicle and almost hit an officer with his car in Upper Nine Mile River on Tuesday night. RCMP responded to a call about an erratic driver on Highway 14 around 10PM who was swerving his car between lanes and flashing his high beams at other vehicles. No injuries were reported.
A man from Dartmouth has been charged with attempted murder after firing shots in the North Preston area for the second time in 9 months. Police were called to Clarence Street on April 19th around 10:30PM after reports of gunshots being heard in the area. 25 year old Cambridge Downey was arrested during a traffic stop on April 24th and is scheduled for court next week.
