Premier Stephen McNeil has agreed to meet with the cancer survivor who dared him to meet with her about the health care crisis in Nova Scotia. 33 year old Inez Rudderham shared her story in a video on social media about how her cancer diagnosis was missed for 2 years because she didn’t have a family doctor. Her video has now been viewed more than 4 million times.

A former teacher at Memorial High School in Sydney Mines has been sentenced to 2 years behind bars for having sex with a student. 53 year old Lawrence Summerell of Reserve Mines pleaded guilty in January to 1 count of sexual exploitation of a youth. Summerell has surrendered his Nova Scotia teaching licence and is no longer employed by the school board.
Halifax Regional Police has a new chief. Dan Kinsella will take over for Jean-Michel Blais on July 1st. Kinsella, is currently the deputy chief of operations for the Hamilton, Ontario Police Service.
