A canoe club in Lake Echo has thousands of dollars in damage after it got vandalized with graffiti and racist slurs over the weekend. What’s worse is after a team of people cleaned up the Orenda Canoe Club, people returned to target the club a second time, causing more damage. Anyone with information is being asked to contact police.

City council in Queens have voted in favour of a motion to oppose any aquaculture expansion in Liverpool Bay. There’s already 14 salmon cages near Coffin Island but an aquaculture company wants to add 46 more cages, which is enough capacity for 1.8 million salmon. The final decision to allow the expansion will be made by Nova Scotia’s aquaculture review board.
Nova Scotia is getting $4.7 million over 5 years in federal funding to help with crime, including gun & gang violence and human trafficking. The funding was announced yesterday from Ottawa. The money will also go to a variety of groups and organizations dealing with the effects of street-level crime.
