The NSTU is downplaying the impact a grievance they filed could have on hundreds of early childhood educators that are staffing pre-primary programs. If the NSTU grievance is successful, all early childhood educators would be replaced by certified teachers. Head of the NSTU Paul Wozney says he understands why the letter is upsetting but the goal was to protect the unions members.
A Nova Scotian massage therapist is facing 9 counts of sexual assault by 7 different women. 53 year old Martin Huybers is still allowed to massage women supervised in Elmsdale until his trial this fall. Huybers says he would never do anything to harm or abuse a patient.
A Nova Scotia school teacher who assaulted a student has completed restorative justice and will not have a criminal record. Last September 55 year old Paul O’Toole was teaching at Musquodoboit Rural High School when an altercation happened between himself and a 17 year old male student. O’Toole was placed on leave after the incident and has not been paid.
