Nova Scotia Justice Minister, Mark Furey, is ordering police to stop using quotas for street checks. This comes after the finding that black people were checked 6 times more than white people in Halifax. Furey says this number is alarming and unacceptable.
There were no injuries after a car that was parked out front of a house caught fire and spread to a house in Windsor. Parents were forced to throw their children out of second storey windows to firefighters below at their King Street home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Transportation Safety Board is issuing a warning after 2 Via passenger trains were seriously damaged. One of the incidents happened last week when a train that left Halifax to Montreal broke down in Springhill after the fuel tank became punctured and some windows broke, forcing all passengers off the train. The other incident happened last month in Brighton, Ontario where a Via train suffered similar damage.
