Police are investigating a weapons complaint after a shooting that happened last night in the north end around 11:00. Officers were called to Gottingen Street near Buddy Daye Street after reports of possible shots fired. Two men, aged 23 & 24 were arrested but have since been released pending further investigation.
The PC MLAs walked out of the Legislature yesterday in protest after Tory Leader Tim Houston accused Education Minister Zach Churchill of assault. Houston says they had a heated conversation and that Churchill grabbed him by the shoulders. Churchill admits to having a heated conversation with Houston, but that no assault occurred.
The CEO of Bay Ferries called a meeting yesterday to ask critics of the service to “tone down” how they speak of the Yarmouth to Maine cat ferry. It’s going to cost another $8.5 million to renovate the ferry terminal in Bar Harbor, Maine, where the ferry will sail this summer. CEO Mark MacDonald says his team can ignore the political debate to focus on business, but others can’t.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be in Halifax this morning to talk with seniors. The new federal budget allows employed seniors to earn more in their jobs before having to give up money through the guaranteed income supplement. Trudeau’s first stop will be at the Northwood Residences this morning at 9:30.
