A 33 year old man from Enfield is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, after he assaulted a 40 year old man with a tool case near Oakfield last week. A 50 year old woman who tried to intervene was also assaulted. The accused is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court next month.

The 2 people who died in a house fire in Port Hood, Cape Breton earlier this month have been identified. 74 year old Eileen Buchanan and her son 52 year old Peter Buchanan were found inside the home on March 7th. Police believe the deaths are not suspicious.

The provincial government will spend $2.5 million to help with preventing pressure injuries in long term care homes in Nova Scotia. Health Minister Randy Delorey made the announcement yesterday. Of that amount, $1.68 million will go toward special air mattresses & pressure cushions.

David Sobey, of the Sobey Foundation and Sobeys Incorporated, has donated $18 million to Saint Mary’s University. Some of the money will create scholarships for students studying business at an undergraduate & graduate degree level. This is the largest donation that SMU has ever received in its 217 year history.
