Police have charged former IWK Health Centre CEO Tracy Kitch with fraud over $5000 & breach of trust. Also facing charges is former IWK chief financial officer Stephen D’Arcy with breach of trust, unauthorized use of computer and mischief to data. Both are scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court in December.


There was mixed reactions at a public meeting last night to discuss 2 proposed local bikeways for Halifax. Ideas include a north end bike route that would run between Cogswell & the top of Novalea Drive, and a west end route that would run along Almon Street between Windsor & Connaught. Transportation planners hope to make recommendations to regional council in early 2019.


The Michelin plant in Granton is creating 150 new jobs and making 200 existing temporary positions permanent. The tire company announced yesterday the jobs are possible because of 2 new projects in Pictou County. The company says the projects are valued at $9 and $12 million dollars.
