A bill passed yesterday making Nova Scotia the 3rd province in Canada to ban conversion therapy. The treatment aims to “cure” a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity. Justice Minister Mark Furey calls the bill the most progressive piece of legislation in the country.


Veterans Affairs Canada will no longer pay for benefits for convicted murderer Christopher Garnier. Garnier started controversy when it became known that Veterans Affairs had paid for his PTSD treatment in jail. Garnier only qualified for the benefits because his father is a veteran.


Premier Brian Gallant says he’s going to carry on governing New Brunswick for the time being. PC leader Blaine Higgs clashed with Gallant yesterday over how to interpret the results of the election. Recounts will be done in a few close ridings on October 5th.
