The teen accused of killing Chelsie Probert was shown new evidence at his second degree murder trial yesterday. The boy testified Friday in Halifax youth court, giving his version of what happened in June 2017 when Probert was attacked on a path in Dartmouth. The boys comments during his testimony prompted police to reopen their investigation on the weekend & hand over new evidence to lawyers. The cross examination resumes today.
A court battle between an aunt & her nephew over a $1.2 million Chase the Ace jackpot was settled yesterday after a 5 hour long meeting. Barbra Reddick sued her nephew Tyrone MacInnis after he claimed half the prize from the July lottery. MacInnis will receive $350,000 and Barb will get the remaining winnings, which exceeds $800,000.
Many drivers in Halifax were confused yesterday by new bus only road signs painted on sections of Mumford Road. The city has now issued a public service announcement giving drivers a warning on the changes that will go into effect September 24th. Until then you can treat it as a regular, mixed traffic lane.
