2 men were arrested in Dartmouth yesterday after 1 of the men threatened to kill a man inside his apartment on Primrose Street. Police blocked off Primrose Street to vehicles & pedestrians and people in the area were asked to stay inside. The 2 men, aged 23 & 29, were both arrested.


A public survey has been launched to gather feedback about Halifax Regional Police’s use of street checks. Police say street checks are used to record suspicious activity, which may include stopping & questioning a member of the public. There have been a number of calls to eliminate street checks, but Halifax’s police chief, Jean-Michel Blais, says they can play a key role in keeping our community safe.


Starting today, artificial trans fats are expected to be officially banned from Canada’s food supply. This move comes almost 15 years after a majority of MP’s voted in support of it. Going forward, the ban will see Health Canada add partially hydrogenated oils to its List of Contaminants.
