Halifax regional council has voted to include tobacco in a bylaw that also bans cannabis smoking on city property. It’s one of the toughest laws of its kind in Canada. The legislation isn’t however an all out ban, smokers will still be able to light up in designated smoking areas.


Canada’s labour minister called on Canada Post & its biggest union to continue bargaining after postal workers across the country voted in favour of strike action that could see them off the job before the end of the month. Members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers voted in favour of job action in several weeks of polling that wrapped up Sunday. 93% of urban letter & parcel carriers and 95% of rural and suburban members are willing to walk off the job.


An inmate who was hospitalized after being found unresponsive in his cell at the Burnside jail has died. Staff began CPR when the 29 year old man was discovered around 9:30PM Monday. An autopsy will be performed in the coming days.
