A woman who says she was raped by a former Saint Mary’s University groundskeeper left a Halifax courtroom crying yesterday after a cellphone video of the assault was played for a 2nd time. Matthew Percy’s defence lawyer tried to point out inconsistencies between her testimony & what she told police. Percy is charged with sexual assault and voyeurism, and is facing the 2nd of 4 trials involving different women.


Air Canada and WestJet Airlines are raising fees for passengers to check their bags. The fee for the first checked bag was $25, it’ll go up to $30. And the price of checking a second piece of luggage was $30 but will rise to $50. Air Canada and WestJet say the increase is due to rising fuel prices and other costs.


The Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon will give up its usual slot on the Victoria Day weekend next year as the city makes room to host the Memorial Cup. Halifax was named host of the junior hockey championship last April. The tournament is scheduled to be held at the Scotiabank Centre on the May 2019 long weekend.
