A former Saint Mary’s University student testified in court yesterday that she was raped on campus last September by a former university employee now accused of sexually assaulting several women. 35 year old Matthew Percy who worked as a groundskeeper at SMU is facing the 2nd of 4 trials relating to different women. The woman remembers waking up next to Percy before being taken to hospital by paramedics where a rape kit was administered.


A judge has ruled a man being sued for more than $600,000 by his aunt over a Chase the Ace jackpot is not allowed to spend the money until the court case is resolved. Barbara Reddick is suing her nephew Tyrone MacInnis over the $1.2 million jackpot, which was won in July as part of a Margaree Forks fundraiser. Reddick paid for the ticket but asked MacInnis to buy it for her. She said she asked him to put his name on the ticket for good luck but says they never had an agreement to split the jackpot.


The sinkhole at a local park in Oxford, Nova Scotia is now more than 30 metres wide. The sinkhole opened suddenly on August 20th when the ground under it collapsed. It has since swallowed up a number of large trees and some picnic tables.
