Premier Stephen McNeil says there was no attempt to hide a $6 million payment last year to Northern Pulp. The payment is contained in the estimates filed to officially close the books on the 2018 fiscal year. McNeil says the payment should not have come as a surprise to anyone.


The spiritual leader of one of the largest Buddhist organizations in the world is denying new allegations of sexual misconduct. Sakyong Rinpoche says his apology to the Shambhala International community should not be misinterpreted as a validation of the accusations against him. Rinpoche stepped back from his duties last month pending the outcome of an investigation into a pattern of sexual misconduct.


A maintenance contract to keep some of Canadian air force’s 50 year old Sea King helicopters flying has been extended to end of this year. The cost to taxpayers will be $2.1 million. The authorization was granted under a long-term agreement signed 5 years ago.
