A former teacher at Memorial High School in Sydney Mines has pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a youth. 53 year old Lawrence Summerell was arrested in September & charged with 5 offences. The incidents happened in 2017 when Summerell was a teacher at Memorial.


Details are being released about the kidnapping & killing of a Canadian mining company executive in Burkina Faso last week. The gunmen who kidnapped Kirk Woodman of Halifax had also stolen a number of items, including money, cellphones and computers. Police are still searching for suspects.
