A longtime member of the Nova Scotia Legislature who won 8 elections in a row in Hants West has died. Ron Russell got his start in politics serving on the Hants City Council. He died back on Thursday at the QEII at the age of 92.

Police are investigating after finding 2 people dead at a home in Cape Breton last Thursday. The bodies of a man and a woman were found by a neighbour at a home in Port Hood. Police are treating the deaths as suspicious.

Nova Scotia students will soon be able to mark an ‘X’ to confirm their gender at school. Students will be able to choose either ‘F’ for female, ‘M’ for male or ‘X’ for non-binary, transgender, gender fluid or gender diverse. Students in junior high school & high school can fill out the form themselves, however students in pre-primary to Grade 6 need their parents to approve.
