Halifax Shipyard workers have voted to reject a tentative agreement with Irving Shipbuilding and have served a 48 hour strike notice. ‘Unifor Marine Workers Federation Local 1’ voted yesterday, with 75% rejecting the proposed agreement after 8 months of negotiations. Unifor MWF 1 represents more than 800 shipyard workers.


The former chief financial officer of the IWK has reimbursed the hospital almost $17,000. Stephen D’Arcy stepped down from his job amidst an expense scandal that cost the hospital’s CEO her job as well. The expenses he repaid are related to travel for meetings & conferences.


A 76 year old man has died following a car crash near Sydney. The man died in hospital after a crash Monday afternoon where Highway 4 and Blacketts Lake Road meet. He is the 6th person to die on a Nova Scotia road in one week.
