A wildfire that flared up for a second time since Sunday in Cole Harbour has been mostly extinguished. The families in at least 10 homes who were under a mandatory evacuation order have been allowed to return home. Deputy fire cheif, Roy Hollett, says the fire was likely caused by humans.

A mother in Cape Breton is mourning the loss of her teenage son after he was found on the side of a highway early Sunday morning. 17 year old Joneil Hanna of North Sydney was hit by a car after his graduation party around 3:30 on Highway 223 in Leitches Creek. He was rushed to hospital where he died.

RCMP are asking the public to practice social media etiquette when it comes to tragic events. This comes after a fatal car crash in Wellington that killed 2 people on highway 2 Sunday evening. While police were still gathering evidence at the scene, the relatives of one of the deceased arrived because they’d read about the crash on Facebook.
