Police will not be charging Liberal MP Francis Drouin following allegations of him groping a woman at a bar during last month’s Liberal Party policy convention. The Ontario MP, who represents the riding of Glengarry-Prescott-Russell, was alleged to have committed the offence at the Halifax Alehouse. Drouin says that after he bought the woman drinks, he moved to another area of the bar with his friends.
A former teacher from the Halifax area has pleaded not guilty to a charge of sexual assault. 73 year old John Merrimen of Seabright had charges laid against him in March. He will be tried in provincial court in a full-day trial in September.
RCMP are warning the public about a man who is about to be released from prison after serving his full sentence for sexual offences. 45 year old Eddie Henshaw has been assessed as a high risk to reoffend. The warning is particularly aimed at the Windsor area of the Annapolis Valley, where he lived before his last sentence.
