William Sandeson was handed a life sentence for first-degree murder last year but he recently won a small legal battle & will receive $700. Sandeson, who killed fellow Dalhousie University student Taylor Samson in 2015, took former roommate Dylan Zinck-Selig to small claims court earlier this year. 18 pairs of sneakers, 40 bottles of wine & multiple bottles of liquor is what Zinck-Selig took without permission once Sandeson went to jail.

A 21 year old Alberta man living in Halifax has been sentenced to 29 months in prison. Chris Davidson has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a former classmate at Dalhousie University after a night of drinking. The Calgary man still claims he has no memory of what happened that night.

Renovations at Nova Scotia’s largest jail are almost complete. Part of the Correctional Centre in Burnside has been undergoing a $6.8 million renovation to convert the cell block to a direct supervision model. A reinforced desk has been constructed right on the floor of a day room that will eventually house up to 62 inmates.
