On a recent trip to Europe, Nova Scotia’s immigration minister convinced 6 doctors to consider moving to Nova Scotia. Lena Diab spoke with more than 40 doctors during the recruiting trip last week in London & Dublin. Nova Scotia is committed to spending $39.6 million on compensation for hiring doctors.

The province is expressing concerns over the impact of federally mandated marine protected areas. Premier Stephen McNeil says offshore oil & gas exploration should be allowed to take place in areas with environmental restrictions. However Minister of Fisheries & Aquaculture Keith Colwell says the danger of harming commercial fishing is too high for explorations.

The North American Indigenous Games will be held in Halifax for the first time ever in 2020. Halifax was competing against Victoria & Ottawa to host the games. Wagmatcook First Nation Chief Norman Bernard says the community is very, very excited about this and that it’s like the Olympics for them.
