The jury heard more at the second degree murder trial for Nicholas Butcher yesterday, who’s accused of killing his former girlfriend, Kristin Johnston. The couple were in a relationship for about a year before Johnston died. And in the weeks before her death, Johnston told friends she intended to sell her house in Halifax and move to B.C. to help her pregnant sister. The trial resumes today.


Police have arrested an employee at a Spring Garden Road marijuana dispensary that was recently robbed. The 33 year old employee of Scotia Green dispensary faces charges of trafficking controlled substances. Police are still searching for 2 masked men who robbed the dispensary and the people who were inside at the time on Monday night.


A Tim Hortons coffee shop in Nova Scotia is apologizing for selling doughnuts in the Humboldt Broncos’ colors without intending to donate the proceeds to the team. Tim Hortons says it has since launched a national fundraising campaign to support the junior hockey team that was involved in the horrific collision. The franchise owner at the Fall River Tim’s created the team colored doughnuts as a tribute before the chain’s fundraising campaign rolled out.
