The case of 35 year old Nicholas Butcher charged with second degree murder in the death of a Halifax yoga teacher resumed in court yesterday. 32 year old Kristin Johnston was in a relationship with Butcher however she had been trying to break up with him before she died. Butcher has pleaded not guilty.

The judge in the controversial sexual assault trial involving taxi driver Bassam Al-Rawi has been vindicated. Judge Gregory Lenehan acquitted Al-Rawi of sexually assaulting an intoxicated female passenger. A review committee looked into Lenehan’s ruling and have decided that a new trial will take place for Al-Rawi.

Police have announced charges against a Hammonds Plans man after a fatal car crash last year. An 18 year old man is charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death that killed a 17 year old boy last October. He’s due in court later this month.
