The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating after an Air Canada flight from Toronto slid off the runway when landing in Halifax last night. At 6:30 the plane landed normally but it slid off the tarmac as it was making a turn toward the gate. There were 211 passengers on board but no one was injured.

Too many patients and not enough beds at the QEII has prompted the Cobequid Community Health Centre to remain open overnight 11 times in the last month. The Lower Sackville centre normally closes at midnight but stayed open later to accommodate patients. The NSHA says they’d rather have patients in beds than on an ambulance stretcher in a hallway.
Police are investigating a complaint of fraud against S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home in Sydney. Over the years dozens of families had contracts with the funeral home for prepaid services, totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars, but their money was never placed in trusts. The investigation follows a suspicious fire at the funeral home, which is now closed indefinitely.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Charlottetown on P.E.I. yesterday morning to announce an investment that will support 150 new jobs in the Maritimes. The project will expand biotechnology company BioVectra facilities in Charlottetown and Windsor, Nova Scotia. The company expects to create 110 jobs in Windsor and 40 in Charlottetown.
