Halifax’s budget committee has approved a property tax increase of just under 2% for next year. The increase amounts to roughly $37 per year for the average homeowner. The decision came from the committee yesterday after 15 other items were considered.

The provincial government is considering twinning one of the province’s most dangerous stretches of road. At least 15 fatal car crashes have happened on Highway 104 between Pictou & Antigonish between 2009 & last year. The Transportation Department says charging tolls will not be considered for this project.

A brand of Chicken nuggets sold in Nova Scotia are being recalled. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the ‘Harvest Creek’ brand of chicken nuggets are being recalled due to possible salmonella contamination. Food with salmonella may not look or smell bad but can still make you very sick with fever-like symptoms.
