A third person has died after a house fire on Saturday in Lower Sackville. The 18 year old man who was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries died yesterday afternoon. Halifax Regional Fire Chief, Ken Stuebing, says the fire originated in the basement due to an electrical issue.

Yesterday teachers went to the provincial legislature to appeal the Nova Scotia government’s proposed legislation. Specifically the proposal that wants to dramatically change the way schools are administered in the province. Teachers told the committee they don’t believe the changes set to be ushered in through Bill 72 will help improve things in the classroom. —

Firefighters were called to an apartment fire on Victoria Road in Halifax last night but thankfully no one was injured. The call came in at about 5:30 to the 10 unit complex. No word yet on what caused the fire.
