The Nova Scotia Teachers Union says its members could walk off the job today or tomorrow if they vote in favour of a strike over the government’s planned education reforms. NSTU president Liette Doucet says if more than half of the voters support the idea, the union will take that as a mandate for what would be an illegal strike. Teachers and the union will face fines if they go on an illegal strike.
The driver of a Halifax Transit bus has been issued a ticket after failing to yield to a pedestrian who was in a crosswalk in Dartmouth last night. The bus driver was making a turn from Hartlen Street to Main Street when the 20 year old male pedestrian was hit. He suffered non-life threatening injuries but was sent to hospital as a precaution.
Police want to speak with a man whose dogs got into an altercation with another dog on a Halifax-area walking trail. The incident happened on February 7th around 11:00AM on the MacIntosh Run trail system near Norawarren Drive in Herring Cove. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
