The Nova Scotia Teachers Union has announced it will hold a strike vote next Tuesday. This is an unexpected and illegal retaliation against the Liberal government’s move to enact sweeping changes to the province’s education system. If teachers vote in favour of a strike mandate, it would clear the way for the union to start job action.


4 homes were hit by bullets in Lower Sackville Monday afternoon, however RCMP don’t believe the residences were the intended targets. Police were called to Sunnyvale Crescent around 2:00PM after getting calls from people in the area who heard gunshots. 2 homes were hit on the outside and in 2 homes the bullets ended up on the inside.


2 new addiction treatment centres will open in Sydney next month due to a growing demand for live-in care in Nova Scotia. New Horizon Addiction Rehabilitation Centers will have a 6 bed facility for women and a separate 12 bed facility for men. The program manager, Barry McNeil, has worked for many years in addictions for the Cape Breton District Health Authority.
