Allegations have been made against former Nova Scotia MP Peter Stoffer. Former party member Lauren Dobson-Hughes claims that Stoffer forced kisses on her twice, allegations that he strongly denies. Stoffer served as an NDP MP for 18 years, but lost the Sackville-Preston-Chezzetcook seat in the 2015 election.


Cities across Nova Scotia are trying to figure out what to do with plastic bags now that China is no longer accepting them for recycling. Councillors in Digby have voted in favour of a ban but only if the rest of the region does the same. Halifax is expected to make a decision on what to do with plastic bags by June.


Great Value popping corn, sold at Walmart stores across Canada, has been recalled because of the presence of insects. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the type of insect in the unpopped kernels has not yet been determined. No illnesses have been reported so far.
