Premier Stephen McNeil says a compensation offer for the removal of principals & vice principals from the NSTU would cost about $800,000. McNeil says the offer is to help make the union “whole” while it finds a way to make up union dues with the pending loss of part of its membership. NSTU president Liette Doucet is calling the in offer “insulting” and an attempt to buy off the union membership.


A 37 year old man has died after crashing his vehicle into a garage in Ketch Harbour. Officers responded to the crash around 12:30 Tuesday morning. A 26 year old woman and a 7 year old child were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.


Police have reopened a sexual assault investigation they closed 3 years ago that’s linked to the former SMU groundskeeper accused of attacking 2 women last fall. In December 2014 a 19 year old woman reported being sexually assaulted by 31 year old man in Halifax. She has since identified the man as now 34 year old, Matthew Percy, who is facing 2 charges of sexual assault & 2 charges of voyeurism.
