Snowfall Warning in Effect: Today cloudy high of -3, snow starts tonight, up to 25cm by tomorrow, also ice pellets tomorrow morning.


A 63 year old man has died after he was hit by a car in the south end of Halifax early Saturday morning. The driver who hit the man is 23 year old Dennis Patterson of New Brunswick, who is facing charges. The car ran into and broke a utility pole on Queen Street and hit the man who was walking on the sidewalk.

RCMP are no longer considering a fatal house fire in Mill Village on the South Shore to be suspicious. Firefighters responded to the fire just before noon Friday. Police have not released the gender or age of the victim.

A local group is working to get an NHL size rink installed inside the Halifax Oval. Currently there are no plans for the city to add a hockey rink to the oval but the group is hoping to change that. The group says having an additional rink would make hockey more accessible for new Canadians and low income families.
