Nova Scotia Power is calling in crews from as far as Quebec to help with electricity restoration as another powerful storm approaches the province. NS Power says they will have more than 1000 people dedicated to storm response.

Two correctional officers have been charged with manslaughter after a Cape Breton man died because he was hit repeatedly with pepper spray in prison. Charges in Matthew Hine’s death come after an investigation found prison staff used unnecessary force. Hines died in May 2015 at Dorchester Penitentiary in New Brunswick.

The provincial government says 2017 was a very big year for attracting immigrants to Nova Scotia. Last year nearly 4000 newcomers were able to call Canada’s Ocean Playground home. The top 3 countries of origin were China, India and the Philippines.
