Thousands of Nova Scotia Power customers are still without electricity as of 8:00AM today after a Christmas Day windstorm that blew trees onto power lines and broke utility poles in half. The total number of customers without power is down from a high of about 158,000. With Nova Scotia Power crews working around the clock since Christmas Day, the estimated restoration time for power to come back on for those still in the dark is 11:30 this morning.

A 38 year old man has died in an ATV crash on Highway 347 in Lower L’Ardoise, Cape Breton. RCMP responded to the call just after 10:00PM Sunday. An investigation into the cause of the crash is now underway.

A business was robbed on Christmas Eve after a large rock was thrown through its front door. Police were called to Elite Vapour on the Bedford Highway Sunday just after 9:00PM. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
