A former SMU groundskeeper is facing another sexual assault charge against a second woman. On December 5th a woman reported she’d been sexually assaulted by a man she knew at an Armdale area residence. 34 year old Matthew Percy faces charges including choking to overcome resistance and voyeurism for videotaping the incident.


Halifax’s fire chief has apologized to female firefighters who had faced discrimination in the service. Ken Stuebing read the apology to Lianne Tessier at a press conference in Halifax yesterday, 12 years after she first spoke out. Tessier says over the years there has been a complete lack of respect for women’s claims of harassment.


The federal government is investing more than $80 million to protect Canada’s waters. $17 million will go toward enhancing ocean models of wind, waves and currents so that emergency responders can track oil spills. The money is coming from a $1.5 billion oceans protection plan that was announced in November 2016.
